Building on the foundation of Christ

   For we are all labourers together with God; ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building. 1cor 3:9

      Before a man could talk about his building or before a building could commence, their must be a foundation, that carry the whole building. Some buildings are 2 storey, while some are 3 storey. Even some are 10 storey, depending on what you desire to build.

        In building our home, have so many option depending on the kind of soil available to us. Examples of foundations like;

Shallow Foundations :
        Foundations provided immediately beneath the lowest part of the structure, near to the ground level are known as shallow foundations.
Such foundations are mostly placed on the first hard and firm strata available below the ground level.

Shallow foundations are further classified into the following types:
1. Spread footing or open trench foundations
2. Grillage foundations
3. Raft foundations
4. Stepped foundations
5. Inverted arch foundations

Spread Footing Foundations :
        Foundations constructed by increasing the are at the base of the structure by means of offsets, are called spread footing foundations. In such foundations, spread is given under the base of a wall or a column by providing offsets. This spread is known as footing and the foundation itself is called spread footing.

2) Grillage Foundation :
        The foundation which consists of one or two tiers of wooden or rolled steel section with space filled up with concrete is known as Grillage foundation. This is so called because the bed constructed in this type of foundation is called grillage. This type of construction avoids deep excavation and provides the necessary area at the base of the structure to reduce the intensity of pressure within the safe bearing capacity of the soil

3) RAFT FOUNDATION :
         The foundation consisting of a thick R.C.C slab covering the whole area of a mat is known as raft foundation.

STEPPED FOUNDATION :

        For constructing this type of foundation, excavation is done into steps having short length and uniform thickness and the masonry work is done on the horizontal bed of concrete thus prepared.
If there is any possibility of slipping of the structure bodily, R.C.C piles can be driven along its base concrete on the sloping side.

DEEP FOUNDATION :
        The foundation constructed sufficiently below ground level with some artificial arrangements such as piles, wells etc, at their base are called deep foundations. Deep foundation are further classified into the following types ;
1. Pile foundation
2. Well foundation
3. Caisson foundation

    

1) PILE FOUNDATION :
          A foundation ( spread footing or grillage ) supported on piles is called a pile foundation. A pile foundation usually consists of a base of spread footing or grillage supported by piles at their bottom. Piles distribute the load of structure to the soil in contact either by friction alone or by friction combined with bearing at their ends.  

          In christaindom, we have only one foundation, which is the lord Jesus Christ. 1 cor 3:11, eph 2:20. As a child of God what and what are you building on the foundation of Christ?

Some build fornications and adultery, some build lies and so on.

What do Christ expect to build on him?

Trust: Christ expect you to build your trust in him and in him alone. Psalm 20:7, a complete trust never fail because is the sure way. Those that trusted in God, were champions in their generation, the likes of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, the likes of Moses, Enoch etc, they were testified by bible to be a champion in their own generation. Heb 11

Evangelism: This is another way of building on the foundation of Christ; whenever you evangelise, you tends to enlarge the body of Christ. Not about preaching church but preaching the good news of Christ Jesus. The only assignment given to us by Christ is to preach the gospel as you go, wherever you found yourself, preach, evangelise, show people the way of the Lord

Teaching others about Christ: teaching goes beyond preaching. When Jesus see multitude, he preach, matt 4:17 but when he is with his disciples, he teaches, matt 5:1-2. When you teach, you dig deep into the word of God, so, teaching other believers is to let them stand in the Lord which will make the body of Christ to grow the more.

Conclusion: What are you building on this most solid foundation? Is it lies? Is it deciet? Remember every Man's work shall be brought to judgement, be it good or otherwise.
